I love pokémon, I have 6 different pokémon DS games and binders full of cards and lots of other pokémon-realted stuff, like T-shirts. I can also play the original Viridian Forest theme on the piano.

Does anyone here do competitive battling? I am not very knowledgeable about it, though I'm slowly learning.

The only thing close to competitive battling I do is I sometimes battle people on Pokemon Showdown. I also do have a few binders of Pokemon cards somewhere in my closet.

I still haven't finished Soul Silver. 2pro. I ended up finishing Black 2 though, it was p. cool. I don't do competitive battling mostly because I can't be bothered with things like IV's and EV's, unfortunately. I am super hyped for X & Y, and so far I like the new pokemon. Also, Pokemon Smash is airing in Japan soon and there's some rumours they'll reveal a new Eeveelution, which would be great.

Eeveelutions are and always have been my favorite part of pokemon

First point: Gee, I didn't know that these 5 mons we see are all of them.

Ok well even though all gens had some shit mons the 5th gen mons in general looked off in comparison to the previous gens. I mean really. Every possible idea has been done already. At this point the only options are to make different versions of previously existing mons such as another fucking dog but just as a different type, or venture into the Yugioh/Digimon monsters which do not fit the poke monsters.

I think the new legendaries look awful.

I think Oshawott's third evolution looks awful, and the second evolution reminds me a lot of Marshtomp.

I'm basing my OVER ALL SHIT opinion off of gen 4 and gen 5 mons and their appearances.

Not all of them look bad, but when compared to the first 3 gens as a whole there is an obvious difference as far as design.

In B/W my starter was Snivy because it looked totally awesome. That was the first time I chose a grass type in my first playthrough of a Pokemon game. I chose Oshawott in B2/W2 because fuck fire/fighting.

I dunno which starter I'll choose in X/Y. It'll probably depend on their evolutions.

That seems a little extreme, especially since, as AJ pointed out, we've only seen 5 pokémon so far, which is definitely not enough to make a judgement call.

Plus, even if you don't like them at first, they might grow on you. That happened to me with Gen 5, though Trubbish still strikes me as... odd...

Also there's a high chance that there will be new Eeveelutions in Gen 6 and you said that you like those.

And it's not true that all the ideas have been used. That's a statement without a lot of thought behind it. You can never use "all the possible ideas", because people are always coming up with new ideas.

You are definitely entitled to your own opinion, but it seems to me like you're judging too quickly here.

@Tetris- I did the same; I chose Snivy in B/W, then Oshawott for B/W2. I probably won't get X/Y though because I don't have a 3DS. And nice comic, I saw that the other day and thought it was rather funny.

Pokemon Crystal was my first vidya game ever, besides for my dad's NES. Because of this, it remains my favorite pokemon game, with Emerald coming in second. Unfortunately for me, the Porkyman GODS have forbid my relationship with Crystal and all things related. First, I lost the game itself and cried for many hours. Then, I lost the fucking Suicune card I got with the Voice Of The Forest movie and to this day I am FUCKING ANGRY ABOUT THAT SHIT I MEAN COME THE FUCK ON THAT WAS MY FIRST LEGENDARY CARD I WOULD HAVE HAD ALL 3 BEASTS IF I STILL HAD IT BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Anyways, I'm trying to find a Crystal cartridge, but the working ones are all in the $30 range and I have no money. Japanese version seems a bit cheaper though, so maybe I'll have to get my Weeaboo on.
