My wife and I got our lips pierced together when we were 18...
10 years later I'm kinda over it...but because I love her I keep it pierced. Not because I want her to be happy, but because its a thing we did together and a reminder of our love etc, but I take it out for long periods and lose my lipring regularly...
So to keep it pierced I have to put random shit through my hole sometimes, like my nametag, thumbtacks, paper clips, etc... sometimes I wait too long to put something in there and it closes quite a bit... in the name of love I repierce my lip once every few months. Thank goodness for alcohol because it hurts like a bitch shoving that metal spike through my lip when its mostly closed
