I got really into album reviews for a while because they helped me find some really great albums
e.g.:
Kid A,
Agaetis Byrjun,
Yankee Hotel Foxtrot,
Elephant,
Sea Change, Oracular Spectacular, and others.
Kid A and
Yankee Hotel Foxtrot are easily in my top 5 favorite albums. I've noticed that, while reviewers can get things wrong (mostly negative reviews), when they all agree that something is a total masterpiece, it generally is. Without reviews, I would not have found Radiohead, my one true lord and savior.
Besides, I generally don't actually
read reviews, I just look at the ratings. I usually ignore bad ratings unless they're totally unanimous. I just read a few Pitchfork reviews because I was wondering why the fucking hell they gave
Viva La Vida or Death and All of His Friends a 6.8 or 6.7 or whatever the hell it is. It's a fantastic album, Pitchfork got it wrong.
also i swear to god if someone interprets this as me flipping out i will flip the fuck out
