Do you know your neighbors?

I know some of my neighbors, but this one right across the way thinks we're good homies. I don't even know his name, but see...its been so long since we met that it would be socially awkward to ask for his name at this point.

I talk to him maybe 3-4 times a week, we've bought/sold stuff to each other, we talk about work and family and life... and I don't know his name at all. He told it to me once when we first met, one time.

I've plotted ways to get his name:

Plan A-
I wait until 3am and head over while they're asleep, and hope they didn't pick up their mail, and sneak a peak at some of their mail. Seems like a felony, but what to do?

Plan B-
Find him when he's wearing his work hat, because it has a name tag on it all the time. Comment on the nametag, which will prompt him to show me it and talk to me for 5 minutes about it.

And there you have it...or I can ask him. but I hate that plan so its not really a a plan.

My wife says there's a lesson here, if you realize the day after you meet someone that you forgot their name you should just ask them right then because over time the guilt builds up and it'll be way worse later on.

Go for Plan C

Casually go check your mail and happen to pick up their mail as well. Take it to their door and say "Hey I was just out checking the mail, figured I'd pick yours up as well." Then make some small talk or whatever maybe do this on a day you're planning to grill and you can invite him over or something

Kinda know some of them, but we're in a shitty housing commission area so I wish I didn't :) Also, plan B sounds cool
