Alright so that HO flash didn't work out.. That's ok!

We can still make a song.

We been plannin this on turntable in our spare time and I'd like to start the thread that may become our hit. I heard level play a song by 4chan's /mu/ and I thought: "Why can't we do at least as good as this?"

We've been divvying out the responsibilities, level's gonna make us a good not-too-weeaboo beat cuz he actually does have very nice musical sense :) And we gotta get tat to rap, he doesn't even know he's our rapper but he is.

We need people to write the raps he'll spit for us without his knowledge that this is even going down, just being a team player.

In addition, we need ideas from songs to grab samples from.. I think that'll make level happy. This could be a hip hop song, this could be...well its our song. Lets make what we want.

What do you want in a song? Tat doesn't have to be our rapper, you wanna be our rapper? Or we could all rap, or some of us, hell just contriboot :) I'm sure we can make this work.

make it a 27 minute rap/rock power ballad

I can do a 8 minute guitar solo of the same 5 notes repeated over and over again to show just how INTENSE this ballad is.

All verses rally around the chorus, but the chorus wouldn't be the same if the verses were written without knowledge of the chorus...which came first the chorus or the verse?

I don't know anything about song writing or music theory but I like to make up little tunes in my head and think of lyrics for them

I say we should make an original song, and I agree with the rap idea and am willing to do said rapping when the time comes.

Cuz I'm down for doing some rapping if it takes me 20 takes to get one acceptable version. I'll admit I only did 3 at most for any of the ones I have online...perhaps with excessive practice I can actually spit a rap song decently. I mean, I know I can rap along like a smooth operator, but rapping along to my own songs just further increases my suck.

Anyway, level, if nobody objects I'd like to ask you to start making dat beat for us. I'll give you a free pass for 24 hours of no-trying-to-sleep-w/-u in exchange, to be used at any point. Preferably when I'm already gonna be gone for 24 hours.

Or if anyone wants to add the to beat? I know all of you are very talented, if so you should contact level cuz he's the executive producer of sound.

So lets get writing some basic ideas we'd like to rap about for things that hold dear to us.

This is our song, we should put lots of us in it. I want to see sirpwn(good timing) all over the song, I wanna see jon's sarcasm, I wanna see nair's despair, and aj's rhyming, and tat's sweet flow, and omega's kingness, and aktve's pretty eyes, and ptero's gangsta gangstaness everywhere!

Let's all contribute what we want to as far as lyrics go...would this work better if I had a deadline of some sort? well, since this is a slow moving forum I'd like to say we got like a month.

Level, you think you can make a phat beat in like 2 weeks? That'll give us 2 weeks to wait for a beat while we work with ideas? Then like 2 weeks for writing to those beats and have the lyrics submitted?

We can adjust all of these times accordingly, but it seems our major flaw is direction...so Ima step up to try to keep this moving forward :)

So Marshall, what do you think of it? What does it need? I've listened to it a few times and we're workshopping it on TT..but its coming along great imo. I can take no credit for this song in its current state, this was all Level's music genius. He says he can't music..

Would you guys mind waiting until friday night to start working on lyrics? I probably won't be around until 11 or so, but possibly earlier. Depends on how the day goes.

Also, level, I approve. Makes me want to write something undeservedly dark about growing up in a white upper-middle class neighborhood.

EDIT: Hey lebul, would you consider collaborating with Walk and I on some NOB stuff? We're focused on more serious stuff now [we have started a band that we are currently referring to as Identifier] and can't be bothered to work on instrumentals for NOB, but I think we would both like to see the project continue and we have tons of unwritten material. We actually really want to put an album out on Bandcamp as The NOB, and if you'd be willing to help us with some MAD BEATZ YO, areagadgfasdfuasdhfi that would be so awesome.

The NOB isn't supposed to be a great rap band, anyway. I'm not saying purposefully do bad, but that you shouldn't worry about being good enough or anything. It's just a fun thing to do. Besides, just by being able to occasionally make decent music puts you way above average.
As for my srs bnd w/ walkinator, I just hope that my taste in/ear for music* translates to me being to produce and/or play like a motherfucker, because a career in music would be pretty goddamn cool.

Ok, so I have begun my practice sessions, and am posting them for the world to view. I figure, if we're ever gonna get this song off the ground someone's gonna have to lay down some tracks, so I'm getting familiar with where to hold the mic, diff techniques for how to make my voice a lil different, etc.

Level and I have talked, and shared our music enough to know our strengths and weaknesses. 

Level is our Nate Dogg,  he's got dat deeeeeeep voice without forcing it.. I always sound kinda forced.

I intend to snoopify myself, and sometimes not rhyme for the sake of sounding stoned and cool.
