Assassins Creed

So yeah, I figured I'd make a thread because why the fuck not. Currently, there are 4 games in the main series(fuck you spinoffs/handhelds), with an upcoming fifth:

Assassins Creed

Assassin's Creed II

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

Assassin's Creed: Revelations

Assassin's Creed 3

The third's going to be out on October 30th this year (2012), which is set in america during the american revolution. You're playing as an ambiguously-native american assassin, and yeah thats pretty much it.

So talk about dudes in white hoods stabbing people in the back and/or face.

it got boring and repetitive after AC2

looking forward to the new one though, looks pretty interesting

Good for the american revolution and the end of the series

i feel like the best ones are the main titles; Assassin's Creed I, Assassin's Creed II, probably Assassin's Creed III

Assassin's Creed II was a continuous, multi-hour orgasm, though.

I remember trying to get into the first one and about 8 hours in I realized I was just gonna do all the stuff I'd already done, only harder and more monotonous.. however! I watched someone who had almost beat the 2nd game, and late in the game in the 2nd one looked awesome :D

I also agree about preferring the main titles to spinoffs and handhelds. Like a GTA game... no handheld gta stories can stand up to San Andreas :D

You should play ACII if you can bro, it was incredible.

AC1 was shit

AC2 was pretty good

ACB was cool

ACR was... I haven't finished it

AC3 looks good.

I liked AC1 because of the story. AC2 was amazing, Brotherhood was kinda like 2.5 and was pretty good and by Revelations the gameplay was just too similar for me to bother doing any side things (though I still thought the story was good). I have played 1 handheld and the gameplay and story were both boring as fuck.

Logical progression:

AC 1: Throwing knives

AC 2-Revelations: Crossbow+Throwing Knives+Arm-pistol

AC3: Bow and arrows+Tomahawk

Also rifles.

I thought the whole point of the hidden armgunthing in the others was because it WASN'T a huge and unwieldy rifle that would give you away in a second.

Seriously, a huge group of guards attacks you because you walked into somebody, but not for, actually, throwing a knife and killing somebody with it.

Guards are retarded.

the guards are trained to assume that hooded people who run or make contact with others are assassins

This isn't really a matter of being more effective, this is a matter of halving the time it takes to cut through guards.
