I stayed up to watch them simply because I'm on the west coast :) I watched half the episodes last night and finished the rest today. I thought it was great. It's definitely a different format and yeah the first few episodes are a bit slow but after you get through about episode 5 or so they start doing callbacks and being the good old self referential AD I've always loved.
Lindsay didn't really get ugly, I mean at the beginning she looks a bit rough but she comes back around to her old self later. You got to think that all the actors are 10 years older now.
All in all though I'd give the new season a 9/10. After another playthrough I can imagine that score only going up once I catch all the subtleties and whatnot.
Go watch it!

comedy movies generally aren't actually very good*, but I feel like AD could pull it off.
*Comedies generally achieve the first expectation of a comedy movie, which would be the humor. The storytelling element usually kinda falls flat, though. I'm watching Raising Hope, its a series...a cute little series.
This recent episode was about how living in a house of poor dreamers is better than living in a house of wealthy realists.
Pros and cons of each one, but I agree...I'd rather live in a world where people can hold out hope that things will someday get better than a world where people know things are never gonna change.

Right now I'm watching "The Salton Sea", probably recommended it at some point in the past, but I still suggest this as a movie to see..it stands up to the test of time :)
